Get your social media accounts connected to TrollWall AI in minutes with this step-by-step guide.
Before You Start
Important: You must be a full admin on Facebook Pages and have admin access to Instagram Business accounts. Editor or Moderator roles will not work properly.
Connecting Facebook Pages
Step 1: In TrollWall AI webapp (app.trollwall.ai), navigate to the Social Accounts section and click "Connect"
Step 2: Select Facebook Page from the platform options, then Connect Facebook Page
Step 3: When Facebook asks for permissions, click "Continue as [Your Name]"
Critical: Never click "Edit Access" or customize permissions. TrollWall needs all requested permissions to function properly.
Step 4: Select the Facebook Pages you want to protect with TrollWall AI
Step 5: Verify connection by checking that your page appears in the Social Accounts list
Connecting Instagram Accounts
Note: Always connect your Facebook Page first before adding Instagram. Instagram Business accounts must be linked to a Facebook Page.
Step 1: Ensure your Instagram account is set to Business or Creator account type
Step 2: In TrollWall AI, navigate to Social Accounts, click "Connect" and select Instagram Account
Step 3: Grant all permissions when prompted by Facebook (Instagram uses Facebook's permission system)
Step 4: Select your Instagram account from the available options
Connecting YouTube Channels
Step 1: In TrollWall AI, navigate to Social Accounts, click "Connect" and select YouTube Channel
Step 2: Sign in with your Google account that manages the YouTube channel
Step 3: Grant TrollWall permission to manage comments on your channel
Step 4: Confirm your channel appears in the connected accounts list
Connecting TikTok Accounts
Step 1: In TrollWall AI, navigate to Social Accounts, click "Connect" and select TikTok Account
Step 2: Log in with your TikTok credentials
Step 3: Authorize TrollWall to access your account's comment management features
Note: TikTok moderation checks for new comments every 15 minutes due to API limitations.
Troubleshooting Connection Issues
Yellow Warning Triangle Next to Account Name
This indicates insufficient permissions were granted during setup, or the connection got broken due to various reasons (e.g. the person who added the account changed their password, is not an admin of the account, or the social media platform detected some suspicious behavior)
Solution: Remove TrollWall from your Facebook settings and reconnect:
Go to Facebook Settings & Privacy β Settings β Business Integrations
Find TrollWall and click "Remove"
Return to TrollWall AI and add your accounts again
Grant all permissions when prompted
Comments Not Appearing in TrollWall
Check these common causes:
Verify you have admin access to all connected accounts
Ensure you granted full permissions during connection
Wait up to 15 minutes for TikTok, 1 hour for YouTube (API limitations)
For Facebook/Instagram, comments should appear within seconds
Instagram Connection Failed
Instagram Business accounts must be connected to a Facebook Page to work with third-party tools like TrollWall AI. This connection happens through Facebook's business infrastructure, which is why the linking step is essential.
Step-by-step solution:
Connect your Facebook Page first through TrollWall AI (see Facebook section above)
Verify your Instagram-Facebook connection:
Open Facebook Business Suite in your web browser
Sign in with the same account you used to connect to TrollWall
Look for your Instagram account listed under "Accounts" in the left sidebar
If your Instagram account appears there, it's properly linked to your Facebook Page
If Instagram isn't linked to Facebook:
In Facebook, switch to the profile of your Facebook Page (click on the circle logo in the top-right corner and select your Facebook Page)
Click on the circle logo in the top-right, go to Settings & Privacy β Settings β Linked accounts (in section Permissions)
Choose Instagram and follow the prompts to link your Facebook Page to your Instagram account
Now connect Instagram through TrollWall AI following the Instagram connection steps above
Why this matters: Facebook owns Instagram and requires all business integrations to go through Facebook's permission system. When TrollWall AI requests access to your Instagram account, it's actually asking Facebook for permission to manage comments on the Instagram account linked to your Facebook Page.
Verifying Successful Connection
Once connected, your accounts should show:
In the Social Accounts section
Recent comments appearing in the Comments section within expected timeframes
Ability to perform actions like hiding comments or replying directly from TrollWall
